Spotlight Designer- Vinita Jain

Hello All!
Today we have Vinita Jain with us as our Guest Designer! Check out what she has created and more about her! :)
1. Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
I am from Delhi, a retired Kindergarten teacher, now a successful full-time SHAM. I am blessed with a very supportive family and in-laws. I have two kids,my eldest daughter is 22 years old and my son is 20 years old.

2. How did you become interested in crafts and what inspired you to start blogging?
My mom always motivated  me to do lots of craft and art work since my childhood.  I always sent some occasional handmade cards to my relatives. In my school days and even as a teacher, I always decorated the Bulletin Boards with new ideas every month. The feedback and appreciations that i got for my creations motivated to keep my crafting alive. After retirement, I was feeling very bored and searching some punches on Internet and found some interesting theme challenges at International as well as Indian Blogs, which always inspire me to create different things everytime. And my crafting journey started with my blog.

3. What are some of your "go-to" supplies for crafting?
It is a long list, but my favorites are my Trimmer, Die machine, Distress inks, dies, stamps, scissors and many more.

4. What is your favorite crafting technique?
I love to play with different watercolor mediums, techniques, embossing powders, paste, sprays and so on.....

5. How would you describe your crafting style?
I always love to create different style of cards, altered art and Mixed Media Canvasas with bright and bold colors, lots of layers, own handmade flowers and embellishments.

6. How long have you been crafting?
I started crafting since 2 years back, still learning!

7. My signature style
Mostly created different style cards with lot of layers and watercoloring with stamping.

8. Who are some of your influences? Who has been your inspiration?
I follow  lots of talented artists. For cards I highly inspired by Jennifer Mcguire and for Mixed Media Gabriello Pollaco and Rajni Ji.

9. When not crafting , what keeps you busy?
I love to watch movies, reding books, drawing and sketching.

10. What are you currently working on?
I am planning to work on a Scrapbooking.

Now time for the tutorial with my Mixed Media creation.

First of all, I applied heavy gesso on this canvas and leave it to dry.

Created some textures using modeling paste and clear crackle paint, let it dry. Now, some stamping for textures, tear some layers of a textured white paper, adhered it with mod podge, To create the sea level at the bottom, I glued some tissue papers and cheese clothes using Mod podge.
some close ups

Adhered some ropes in the circle shape with mod podge, real stones, some jute mesh, a cardboard and applied different inks, sprays.

Some close ups

Cut away the PP for photo matting and distressed the edges. Tear away the layers of the  cardboard for textures.

Now before matting I arranged my all MDF cogs, clock with textures applying Inka gold, glitter paste, different inks for rusty look. and adhered them on my canvas.
Created a wavy edge at the last bottom layer using the mold and inked it.
I used a mixture of foliage, gave the look of seaweed, corals at the bottom of the sea using molds and inks. My starfish was shaded with ink and highlighted it. A clock hanged waith a chain and a tiny bottle with a message inside. Now embellished it with lots of different beads, shells, a tiny clock weaven in a rope. some jute flowers, a polka dotted blue flower, MDF sentiment, microbeads, pearls. And at last, an art journaling on a Metal tag.

Hope you all like and enjoyed my crafting style.

Mudra Stamps special Post - By SathyaKala

Hi Crafty peeps!

Its me SathyaKala here today at Lulupu and am super excited to Guest Design as Mudra Creative Team Member with few set of inspirations using Mudra Stampsets. And to showcase few amazing projects from my super talented Teamies of Mudra.

We are excited about Lulupu - India's Leading Craft Store stocking up our Mudra craft stamps. We are extremely excited and equally privileged to be here today.

Lets see the inspirations now!!

Card 1:

1.Took 5" square cardbase and did matting with few colored cardstocks with quarter inch differences.

2. Card panel is masked with a negative of a oval scallop and the DI inks - Scattered straw, Rusty hinge are sponged to give a nice blended background.

3. Stamped the girl silhouette stamp using Black archival ink within the blended bg.

4. For the swing to perch, stamped the flourishes several times, from  Fancy flourish stampset using Rich cocoa momento ink.

5. Sentiment from Dreamcatcher stampset is used here and stamped using Black Archival ink, in such a way, it lies partially on the focal background.

Card 2:

1. 5" square ivory cardbase is taken and did  few mattings as shown.

2. Card panel is stamped with Polka dots bg using versamark and heat embossed with Ranger White Embossing powder

3. Then its diecut using Circle provocraft-cuttlebug die.

4. To peek through the negative spaces of diecuts, white cs is stamped with Fancy Flourish stampset using Black Archival ink and inserted beneath the focal panel.

5. Butterflies from Grungy butterflies stampset are stamped and colored using Zig clean color brush pens with few white highlights.

6. Then the left over diecut is taken and stamped with sentiment from Brushed Sentiments stampset.

7.Few baby blue pearls are added as accents.

Card 3:

 1. 5" white square cardbase taken. Matted with pink and black cardstocks.

2.Took watercolor cardstock, and Ranger silver heat embossed the flourishes from Fancy flourishes stampset.

3. Whole paper is water brushed and worn lipstick distress ink is added. Then it left to air dry.

4.Its then diecut using Cuttlebug Provocraft circle die and popped using foam adhesives on the focal panel.

5. For the last element, to add interest, butterfly from Butterfly flutters is colored using Zig pens and used with  a flower sticker.

6. Sentiment is used from Brushed Sentiment stampset.

7.Few white pearls are added as accents.

 Card 4:

1. This Vinatge-y attempt is done on a long card, as its much suited my card idea.

2.Kraft cardbase is taken and distressed slightly on the edges using the Rich cocoa momento ink.

3. The white matting layer is taken and top and bottom edges are torn. Then distressed slightly with Momento Toffee crunch and then heavily with momento rich cocoa ink.

4. Fancy flourishes stampset is used to stamp the flourish at the corners of the matting layer.

5.Then water is sprayed to get a mottled effect and before it could dry completely, went ahead and stamped feather stamps from Dreamcatcher sets on the centre of the card. Heat embossed it using Ranger Gold Ep.

6.During this process, the pooled effects appeared on cs took the Embossing Powders and while heat setting gave that lovely cellular backgeound effect, which is so awesome in real. This matted on the card base.
(I intended to avoid Anti-static bag to have this effect and its a non watercolor paper)

7.White cs is taken and its torn wholly on edges and its edges alone heavily distressed using series of DIs- Tumbled glass, Broken china, Peacock feathers and momento rich cocoa ink.

8.Then central portion of the focal panel is torn off and again its edges are distressed using Rich cocoa momento ink.

9. Water is sprayed using mister to get a mottled effect and heat set.

10.Polka dots stamp set is used on corners of the panel.

11.This panel is matted on the cs making sure to keep gold embossed feathers centrally.

12.Sentiment from Dare to fly stampset is stamped and torn as portions, edges again distressed and mounted on focal panel.

13.Feathers from Dream catcher stampset is stamped on vellum and heat embossed using Ranger Gold Ep and tugged under the up and down sentiment banners.

Mixed Media Tag

1. Took largest diecut from TH tag dies set on a thick chipboard.

2. Gessoed it completely and applied Texture paste mixed with Dylusions- Lemon zest on top corner of the tag, Using TH texture tools, swipped across the texture paste and after drying sprayed with same mist.

3. On the bottom portion of the tag, the texture paste is mixed with LSG - Azure Sea Aster and used TH bubble stencil for stenciling. After drying, sprayed with same mist for the pooling effect around the stenciled area and heat set it.

4. Lotus flower, bud, leaf are from Lotus Blooms stampset and they are heat embossed using Lavender Zing Ep and Leaf Zing Ep. Colored using Zig cleancolor brush pens.

5.LSG - Sea mist green is sprayed right below the yellow stenciled portion and heat set it.

6.Flower, bud and leaf are fussy cut and mounted on the tag using foam adhesives and misted cheesecloth are tugged under and near those to give marshy and moss look.

7.Few Prima artstones scattered on cheesecloth and Rangers Glossy accents as dew/water droplets effects.

8.Sentiment from Peony love is added and fussy cut and sponged slightly on edges with tumbled class Distress ink.

9. Yellow polka dot ribbon and green twine are added to finish off the card.

I have used Baby pink Fabric tape all over the album. You can check out how I have used them over the tags as well as the cover. I have also used You are Here!Insta squares on the cover.  :)
