Beautiful day- cardmaking video

Hello everyone!

Today I have a simple card and a video to share. Here is the card-

Here is how I made it...

I wanted to use a single stamp for my card that is neither too small not too large. So, this stamp set called 'leafy' from Mudra seemed perfect for me.

I stamped the leaf in the lightest colour of green ink that I have. Then, stamped with a darker shade exactly on the previously stamped image after dabbing off some of the ink from the stamp. Then repeated the step with darkest shade. Once that was done, I inked up the same stamp with versamark and stamped it on previously stamped image and heat set with glitter embossing powder.

I repeated the process for five leaves. Then sponged black soot distress ink. The leaves resist the ink as they are heat embossed.

Here is the link to Jennifer McGuire's video from which I got inspired...

I also made a video showing the entire process in the video. You can watch the video here or on YouTube HERE.

Smile : Moodboard inspied Layout

Hello everyone,
Riswana here with you today. Did you check out the Current challenge running our blog? We have an awesome moodboard to inspire you for creating a layout..

Here's my take on the moodboard. This is the first ever layout I've created.!!!

I used so many elements from the mood board. I took the soft blue and pink colors from the pic for the colour scheme.. Wooden plank background with stripes & also crumpled paper effect..

Also included elements from the moodboard like roses, feathers, Love, Pop of red & a scripty sentiment.. The brushed alphas stampset is a must have.. you can create your own sentiment in a beautiful font...

Some more shots..

Hope you liked this debut layout attempt of mine. I did take longer than usual to figure out the elements, placements etc.. But I had so much fun all the same.!!
There's still time to participate in the challenge & get a chance to win fab prizes.!! Don't forget to link your creations Here.

September GD- Sathyakala

Hi everyone! Sindhura here.  Our GD this month is Sathya and she shares a gorgeous layout and step by step instructions about how she made it. It isn't the first time she is guest designing for us... I love all the mixed media projecrs she creates!

Over to her...

Hi Friends!

Its me SathyaKala, from Paperie Expressions. Am SO happy here today to be the Guest Designer at Lulupu. Did you see this month's Awesome moodboard, you are sure to blown away by the cute elements in it. Am SO in love with the elements, colors and the textures.

Have been doing Mixed media Canvases from last year and this Mixed media try today on a Layout is my ever first attempt. Am happy about the way, the very many elements fallen in place to compile this LO.

My take on Moodboard Inspiration :)

Let's get started with the process:
  • Took a 12x12 Prima pp from Tales of You and Me collection. One of my fave collection. It as such calls for some awesome Love themed projects!!!
  • I usually take a print out of the Moodboard inpsiration, just to get started as phone screen pics may not give me exact color to follow.  Here, i have used a 12x12 thick white cardstock for backing for my LO. Glued it with Tombow monoliquid glue and followed by that, is all the stenciling and sprays.
  • Have applied white Gesso centrally on the Patterned paper using Spatula, just to have a texturous base. You can use brush, foam anything as you wish. Gesso gives a tooth for the mists/sprays and it prevents them from soaking in the paper.
  • Then done stenciling in portions in and around the gessoed area using Prima Poppies stencil using Prima Modelling paste Opaque.
  • Once its dry, Started the series of mists one after the other after each layer is dried. Lindy's stamp gang sprays - Cocklebells Coral, Kissing KenicKie Coral, Glory of the Seas Gold are used.
  • Simple stamping is done around the texturous base, using Prima Brick stamp and Texture Stamp using Black archival ink.
  • Roughly arranged the elements just to check where it suits. My focal element is made using a White-Gold foil pp, Black-Gold foil pp, and frame diecut. All are mounted one on top of each other using foam adhesive on 2 doilies.
  • Misted cheesecloth is tucked randomly under the focal element.
  • Beige Crocheted Lace is ruffled and takes a corner position near the Focal element and above and around all other embellies placed.
  • Prima Floral vine, Prima Kraft Leaves, Prima Natural Hemp Twine, Prima Say it in crystals, Prima Resin Icons - LOVE and Memories, Prima Mini artstones, Prima Mulberry Mica flakes were used here.
  • Roses, Mini roses and clay pollens are added for bit interest in the floral vine.
  • Other than this, clock metal embellishment, White heat embossed florishes, clear droplets are used as accents here.
  • Timholtz chitchat word stickers - Kraft color is chosen and they are mounted using foam adhesive around the Focal elements.
  • Feathers from Mudra Dream catcher set. are white and gold heat embossed are added.
  • As a final touch, Heidi Swapp Black velvet splatters around the floral element.
Few closeup shots as Collage for you :)

This wraps up my post. Hope you liked my inspiration for this month awesome Moodboard.

Thank You SO much, Karuna Chauhan and entire Lulupu team for this lovely opportunity.

Happy Crafting!

Cheers,
Sathya.

Now, isn't that a very pretty layout?! Love it totally! Thanks for sharing, Sathya!

See you soon again,
Bye!

Acrylic Mini Album with tutorial

Hello.

Chirali here with a brand new post on mini album. It is completely different kind of mini album, an Acrylic Mini Album. As the name says, the base is made of an acrylic. It was super fun making this one. You will definitely love to try this.

Here it is:

So let's start with it.

I got an acrylic sheet  from local stationary which is huge in size but a good thing is it can be cut with cutter, a little bit harder you need to be than normal. I cut them in 4 pieces measuring 4.5"x4" inches and 2 pieces in 4.5"x3", made 3 holes on each (2 holes in 4.5"x3" piece) at same distance for binding with rings. I found only this binding preferable for acrylic sheet as it is not bendable easily.

Now rounding of the corners was a tough task for me. I thought envelop punch board will do but it just left a small mark with a deep cut in the middle.

So I cut the corners in this shape with scissors, of course not with that level finishing. But to smoothen the corners, I used sand paper and it's almost done. Here is the final base:

Note that this sheet comes with plastic coating on both the sides so before removing them, make sure you are done with everything on the base otherwise it will leave you ending up with scratches on the sheet and it won't be that transparent.

Now, it's time to prepare pages. One can not go with the flow of normal album in this case because working on acrylic directly may result in scratch or glue on acrylic. So I prepared pages first and then adhered them.

Again, the best thing about this album is the best use of double sided patterned papers. You need to stick them on one side only. I always feel waste of one side so a treat for me. ;)

And the last thing which made me the happiest was you can emboss on this and it looks so damn beautiful on both the sides.

So here are some more photos of album with some photos of inside pages and the video is there for detailed pages with how I did it because it would be easier to understand.

And here is detailed video of it:

I hope you enjoyed the whole post.

Thanks,
Chirali. :)

Cherish- layout

Hi everyone!

Sindhura here. Hope you are all doing good. This is going to be a very short post because of the internet issues we have been having for the past 2-3 days. So, before the internet gives up on me, I will need to finish this post. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the project in the comments, I will reply to all of them. :)

This month, we decided to challenge you with a mood board. I challenged myself to make a layout. I'm so bad with scrapbooking. I had to put a lot of effort to make something that looked fine in the end. :)

Here is the mood board-

I hope you are able to see the elemts I got inspired from the mood board. I am a big fan of stripes. So i took the help of masking tape to make those stripes. That glossy heart in the center of the mood board instantly had my heart the moment I looked at it. So, I included the heart too. Since I love flowers and mint, I had to add them too. I backed the photograph with vellum and some beautiful papers.

Here is a close up of some of heart and other elements on the mood board.

Supplies-
Fancy pants Millie and June paper pad
Glossy accents
Mudra's Leafy mini stamp
Party time enamel dots
Pebbles chipboard shapes

Hope you like what I made... see you soon.

Love
Sindhura

One stampset, Five ways : Stripes

Hello everyone,
Riswana here with you today. We crafters always want to make the most out of our supplies right? Today I'll be sharing five different ways to use Stripes stamp sets.. I've used Mudra's Play with lines stamp set here.

Create Backgrounds:
These lines stamps make it super easy to build a background..
I used Mermaid lagoon distress ink on the broadest stripe stamp, misted with water & stamped on a watercolor paper to get this distressed splotchy BG..

Make your own Patterned Paper:
Yes.! you can make you own PPs with these cool stamps. You can use them as backgrounds, fussy cut & paper piece or any other way you like.!

I took a red cardstock & created a classic Buffalo plaid Pattern with Black soot DI. I like to use distress inks because they react with water, so I can smoothen out any area if needed. Also in this particular pattern, I added more black color at the intersection of lines to bring out more contrast.!
I love the masculine look of this card..

Here's another plaid pattern, this time with more colorful lines.. It may look complicated but it's actually very simple if you stick to the pattern & stamp in the same order.
I prepared my solid stamps with versmark ink & stamped on a scrap piece of paper to remove off some ink & then used distress inks to stamp the lines. this way the lines are less splotchy & more crispy. I've used Spun Sugar, Tumbled gass, Squeezed lemonade, Twisted citron distress inks.

Create Textures/Grid
You can create grungy textures & grids with the stamp which has about six thin lines close by.. Here's a Clean And Simple card..

I got this idea as I was analyzing a Patient's ECG.! Talk about getting inspiration from everywhere lol.! I used Tumbled glass DI to get that subtle grid pattern & drew some waves with a black fine liner pen.. You can use browns & blacks to get a more grungy looking grid..

Make Borders:

I've used the stamp with stripes to create a cool border for this otherwise colorful card. It balances the design as well as the colors on the rest of the card..

A stamp positioning tool will be of immense help especially when it come to these types of stamps. But not to worry if you don't have one. You can use regular acrylic blocks to achieve beautiful results too :) I used a plain block without any grid on it & still managed to get through this ;)

That's all from me today. Hope you liked my projects and that they have inspired you to make innovative use of your stamps & make the most out of them..  Please do lemme know your comments and feedback.

Do check out our ongoing challenge HERE.

Explosion box mini album Tutorial

Hello everyone,

Riswana here with you today. I'll be sharing a very basic tutorial on an explosion box mini album.. There are endless ways to do it and this is just a simplified form of mine & I hope it will be useful if you are a beginner or haven't tried this out yet.!!

Here's the box when open..

Let's get started. I'll go fron the outer layer towards inside.

Layer 1:

Take a 10 1/2" square cardstock and score at 3 1/2" and 7" respectively. Rotate the cardstock to 90 degrees and repeat the same. This is common for all the layers (so i have mentioned the measurements only once in all the pictures).

Take a 3 1/2" square scrap piece of paper, fold it diagonally. Draw a heart and fussy cut it. Use this as a template to draw on all four corners. Score diagonally in the middle of the hearts.. Cut the same template a little bit smaller to cut out the pattern paper hearts.

Take 4 pieces of 3 1/4" square Pattern papers in 2 different designs & matt them on the base. After completing it should look like this..

Outer view

Inner View
Layer 2:

Take a 9" square cardstock & score at 3" and 6" respectively. Cut and score as shown & fold the flaps on each other. This is the easiest of ways to create an interactive design as well as utilizing the maximum space.. You'll need 4 pieces of 2 3/4" Pattern papers in 4 designs for matting. Here's the finished look..

Outer view

Inner view

Layer 3:

This may look a bit complicated but it's actually simple and very similar to the second layer. The difference is that there's an extra 1/4" for the flaps to make pockets.

Take a 8" square cardstock and score at 1/4" 2 3/4", 5 1/4", 7 3/4" respectively. Score and cut along the lines as shown above. The resulting piece should resemble the blue shaded area. Stick the flaps to make the pockets.  You'll need 4 tags measuring 2 1/4" × 2 3/4". Also 4 square Pattern papers measuring 2 1/4" each in 2 designs..

Inner view

Outer view

The Lid:

Take a 6 1/8" square cardstock and score at 1/4" and 4 7/8" respectively. This will give a 1/8" gap between the lid and the box. You can customise as required. 4 pieces of 1" × 3 3/8" Pattern papers & 2 pieces of 3 3/8 square pattern papers will be required for matting.

Since it is a mini album, the center portion can again hold a picture. I chose to have a surprise box inside, which can be used to store small memorabilias..

Add pictures and embellishments like you wish, stick the layers on top of each other using foam adhesive and you are done. I usually add embellies coordinating the photos.!! Also, it's okay to mix and match Pattern papers as long as the color co-ordination turns out right.. Here I've used papers from four different PP packs.!!!

Hope you found this tutorial useful.. If you have any queries, please feel free to ask in the comments section and I'll be happy to help :)
